i’ve read up on water fasts, and i know the ones that last for longer then like 10 days are bad.

But, if i were to fast for 3 days..consuming nothing but water and hot green tea..then eat the 4th day (nothing heavy-fruit, light yogurt, etc.) and slowly go back to eating as i normally do (i don’t eat meat. nothing too fattening. My typical diet is fruit, vegtebles, oatmeal, sugar free jello, & ricecakes) would that be good?

I want to rid my body of toxins, and was thinking about doing this once or twice a month..
Its not as extreme as a fast, but would it still work?

I personally wouldn’t fast for three days like that, but I did hear that, that is a good way to boost your immune system and get rid of toxins. Maybe you should try talking to a dietitian, they can probably get you on the right track for removing toxins.

Especially if you are under 18. The Green Tea Diet pills that are from Walgreen's..

There's a lot of caffeine in them, around 45mg per pill.

If that doesn't bother you, make sure that it's 100% green tea with no substitutes.

Green tea contains caffeine. Too much caffiene can resut in jitteriness due to its stimulant effect.

Sorry this is long =( bear with me please.

Hi, well I decided to change my lifestyle (atleast for the next 6 months =P) to a much healthier one. I started on the 1st of july and weighed myself on the 31st and I lost 15 pounds. My goal is to eat 800 calories a day (but they usually make it to around 900 because of fruit snacks and stuff) and for that month i spent 2 hours a day 5 days a week on avg in the gym. My starting weight was 279 lb, im 6′3″ and 17 years old.

Weight was never really an issue for me till lately, because of exam stress and family problems, i gained about 10 lb in a month, and only then did clothes start looking bad on me, i always considered myself lucky, because i was overweight but still never lagged behind in terms of clothes and style, mainly because my body never reflected my weight. Only after my exams did I start to notice my clothes looking bad on me, so I slowly started controlling my appetite for about 2 weeks, then I started the diet.(Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t look thin or anything, but I didnt look 260lb either, i looked like a person who needed to lose 20lb at the most)

Anyways, to make a long story short, I burn about 800 calories in the gym, and I eat around 900 calories a day while still feeling satisfied, I’m not crash dieting or anything, I’m just choosing low calorie food, e.g for breakfast I have a single slice of whole grain bread with 99-percent fat free turkey (2 slices, 30 calories each) with lettuce and low fat mayo (15 calories per spoonful). For dinner it’s pretty much standard between grilled chicken Fillet with veggies or grilled fish Fillet with veggies (Totalling around 400 calories). And I have another one of those turkey sandwiches for lunch, and some fruit snacks whenever i feel hungry. I take 100-percent DRA multi vitamins & minerals. As for drinks its usually 2 cans of diet coke a day and 3 litres of water, and a cup of green tea a day on avg. ( Soda because it makes me feel full for atleast and hour or so =P planning on quiting it after i finish.

I was expecting that a person of my weight should be losing much more weight, I’m weighing everything I eat and then using the calorieking.com website to calculate the calories I’m eating.Am I doing something wrong? Anyway to speed up the process?I was trying to reach 215 pounds by 1st october, as my uni starts a few days later, and I dont wanna be labeled anything which i can improve on.

My target weight is 180 lb by december 12th (my bday =D) and I’ve already dropped a size, so im happy about that, I was just thinking that with all the effort im putting in I should have lost more weight. Theres a history of obesity on my fathers side of the family, and from my mothers side, they seem to have ALOT of digestive and heart/BP problems, but no diabetes on either side.

Also I was wondering what the test for your metabolism/rate of metabolism is called? and has anyone tried the blood type diet, it seems a bit extreme for me, and i doubt i can stick to eating 3 ounces of chicken as my only meat for the whole week, but hey, if it’ll speed things up, I dont mind trying it on ramadan next month, I’m gonna be fasting till 6 oclock anyway =P

And I know this is kinda lame, but any diet pills that can speed up the calorie burning process, I dont want any of those enzymes pills that dont allow carbs and fats to be absorbed, coz trust me they DONT work =)
I can't drink milk, I don't like the way it tastes, and I get digestive problems after it, I start feeling really heavy and have to bend my back forwards a little because my intestines hurt, and the example of my diet above isn't my daily regimen, I do eat cereal, omellettes cinnamon apples for breakfast ( don't know if that actually exists, but what i do is I cut 2 apples into 8 pieces and spread some cinnamon on them, and into the microwave for a minute YUMMY!) for dinner, I do sometimes grab a subway turkey 6inch sandwich, (273 clories woohoo =P) thx for the advice though =)
Thank you for all the suggestions, i'm aiming for 180 pounds so i have a bmi of 22, But I love the motivation your all giving me =) thanks for all the help, I'll keave the question open for a few more answers then pick my favorite one =)

I wrote this assuming you are male-
My hubby is 6′5 and 245 and I think he is looking healthy for the first time in his life. 180 will NOT look good on you, you will look like a bean pole. My hubby was 185 when we first started dating and I fattened him up really fast because he just always looked hungry to me. Anyway, the reason your weight loss seems so slow is probably because you are not that far from a healthy weight. And don’t mistake muscle weight for fat weight. If you have been working out, muscle is much heavier than fat so you are probably gaining muscle faster than you can lose the fat you’re expecting too.

Alter your diet just a bit- ADD calories, I am serious. Your body learns to store the extra fat it needs. You are not getting nearly enough calories for your size and your body is beginning to fight back. It will take every calorie you eat and try to store it because it is fighting so hard to maintain your weight. Once you add some calories, you will get more effective workouts. At that point, focus on getting in shape and not losing weight. You are a guy, and for guys it is easier to lose fat working out than dieting, and what guy doesn’t want to be ripped? You don’t see body builders obsessing because their weight is over standard guidelines, do you?

You want to feel good and look good. Stop worrying about your weight because it’s not going to be tattoo-ed on your forehead. Increase your calories, change up your workout routine so you constantly see change, stop stepping on the scale and start just looking at yourself in the mirror.

I've heard that drinking green tea is proven to help make you lose weight. I love this Tazo refresh green tea but it is decaf. Does decaf green tea have the same effect?

There's a great article at The Steeping Pot about health benefits for tea - http://shop.steepingpot.com/teainfo.php#8 .

For Decaf tea is states: We do not know whether decaf teas have the same polyphenols, and thus the same health benefits. It is not yet known if removing caffeine also removes polyphenols in the decaffeinating process.

Hope that helps.

I am a big fan of Chai tea, so the other day I bought Green tea Chai. I have been drinking it for a few days now and now I am having very loose stools… is this normal?

Yes. Green tea is a natural laxative.

within 15 days, do I have to send back the packets I have not used, or can I keep those.

Also, does the 15 day trial start once I order my tea, or does it end once I've gotten my trial tea?

Check their website for the "money back guarentee."
