Does decaf black tea still have caffeine in it?
27.November, 2008
I heard that decaf black and green tea still have large amounts of caffeine in it. I also heard that formaldehyde is used to decaffeinate teas. Is this stuff true?
Decaf tea has a lot less caffeine — enough so that it doesn't bother most (not all) people. Information on the amount of caffeine can be found here: http://www.stashtea.com/caffeine.htm
The main decafination methods are Methylene chloride processing, Ethyl acetate processing, Carbon dioxide processing, and Water processing. Mostly, they involve chemicals I wouldn't eat straight.

Does the ultra lean green tea really work?
25.November, 2008
Yes it works if you stick to a good diet and exercise plan. Keep in mind that stuff like that is a supplement and not an end all solution

Green tea is supposed to be a good antioxidant.
But it has no value in weight loss, whatsoever.
Be careful and don't fall for scams!

Which quality teas have the least amount of fluoride and aluminum?
25.November, 2008
I drink tazo green tea & lipton black tea, but am concerned about the levels of fluoride and aluminum. I drink spring water to try and balance it out, but am consuming more and more tea every year, so am looking for the teas with marginal toxins…thanks
Bigelow Orange and Spice tea seems pretty safe

Does Green tea help speed up your metabolism.?
25.November, 2008
i was told that snapple tea speeds up your metabolism. if so what about white tea.
There are small-scale studies that showed drinking large amounts of green tea (equivalent of 4-6 cups) helps burn an extra 60-80 calories per day. If you consume 2000 to 3000 calories a day, that's about 2-4% of your daily calories. However, no widespread test using larger numbers of people has ever concluded this. Green tea is most known for it's antioxidant properties.
And yes, white tea has also shown some small amount of metabolism increase. But don't go snarfing down a case of Oreo's because you are sipping green or white tea! One oreo probably more than erases the calorie reduction of one cup of tea!!
Enjoy!

Has anyone tried the Mega-T Green tea pill?
25.November, 2008
Does it work with proper diet and exercise?
Sugar pills work with proper diet and exercise.
Green tea does contain caffeine and a solid dose of antioxidants, but IMO you're wasting your money buying the pills.
Just buy the loose tea leaves and have a big cup with each meal and you'll get the same or greater benefit than the pills at a fraction of the price. Plus drinking the tea is much tastier.

I'm into Gummies - if you could make up the next Gummy flavor and color, what would it be?
25.November, 2008
Me? This isn't a fruit, but I would say make it a green tea Gummi, and call it "matcha". Matcha is the powdered green tea in Japanese. You may have had it, in green tea ice cream, or in cold green tea drinks. Not the regular green tea as in hot tea, but much more delicious and sweet and a bit creamy in flavor. YUM!
To: marymaryj - all sound yum! We may be on to something! We should start our GummyClub! First two joiners? US!
the next flavor I would make would be pomegranate, or white peach, or asian pear, or pluot
