Is there anything bad about green tea?
31.December, 2008
We've all heard the pros about Green Tea, but I've always wondered; Is there anything bad or unhealthy?
Green Tea is supposed to help you go to sleep if you drink it before bed. And I heard it gives you energy in the morning. However, I used to drink alot of green tea and it gave me frequent kidney stones. And so I quit drinking it and haven't had a kidney stone since. Maybe it's just me that had that issue, But for the most part it's good for you.

Green tea fat burner at risk for the FDA recall?
31.December, 2008
I'm talking green tea fat burner and im wondering if its on recall? Should i stop talking it? I'm 15 with a history of a eating disorder.
I can't find any recall for that specific product, but large doses of green tea effect your bodies ability to absorb certain nutrients including folic acid.
There are 10 other herbs in it which also all have their own risks:
Bladderwrack
http://www.vitacost.com/Healthnotes/Herb/Bladderwrack.aspx
Are there any side effects or interactions?
Bladderwrack is generally safe, though there are three potential problems with its consumption: acne, thyroid dysfunction, and heavy-metal contamination. Iodine in any form—including from bladderwrack and other seaweeds—can cause or aggravate acne in some people.20 Excessive iodine ingestion can cause either hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism and should be avoided.21 22 Bladderwrack and other seaweeds that grow in heavy-metal-contaminated waters may contain high levels of these toxins (particularly arsenic and lead), leading to nerve damage,23 kidney damage,24 or other problems. Only bladderwrack known to have been harvested from clean water or labeled to indicate the absence of heavy metals or other contaminants should be consumed. The safety of using bladderwrack during pregnancy and breast-feeding is unknown. People who are allergic to iodine may need to avoid bladderwrack.

Children (under 18 years old)
There is not enough scientific evidence to recommend the safe use of bladderwrack in children. Because of the iodine content and potential for contamination with heavy metals, it may be inadvisable for use in children.
[...]
Side Effects and Warnings
Most adverse effects appear related to the high iodine content, heavy metal, or other contamination of bladderwrack preparations, rather than to the seaweed itself. Because of the potential contamination of bladderwrack with heavy metals, its consumption should always be considered potentially unsafe.
Based on the known effects of iodine toxicity and case reports, the high iodine content in bladderwrack may lead to abnormal thyroid conditions. In theory, bladderwrack may increase or decrease blood thyroid hormone levels. In addition, acne-type skin lesions may occur, and there are reports of severe acne exacerbations with the use of kelp. Iodine may also cause a brassy taste, increased salivation, and stomach irritation.
Reports of kidney and nerve toxicity have occurred in persons taking seaweed/kelp, attributed to high levels of arsenic. Abnormal bleeding and reduced blood platelet count was attributed to contaminants in a kelp product. Bladderwrack may contain vitamins and minerals, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and sodium and may increase blood levels.
Extracts of bladderwrack may cause lowered blood sugar. Caution is advised in patients with diabetes or hypoglycemia and in those taking drugs, herbs, or supplements that affect blood sugar. Serum glucose levels may need to be monitored by a healthcare provider, and medication adjustments may be necessary.
Bladderwrack may have blood-thinning (anticoagulant) properties. Abnormal bleeding, petechiae, and autoimmune thrombocytopenic purpura with dyserythropoiesis have been reported. Caution is advised in patients with bleeding disorders or taking drugs that may increase the risk of bleeding. Dosing adjustments may be necessary.
Laxative properties have traditionally been attributed to chronic use of bladderwrack and other brown seaweeds and may be due to the component alginic acid, present in many laxative agents.

http://www.vitacost.com/Healthnotes/Herb/Eleuthero.aspx#Side-Effects
Are there any side effects or interactions?
Reported side effects have been minimal with use of eleuthero.15 Mild, transient diarrhea has been reported in a very small number of users. Eleuthero may cause insomnia in some people if taken too close to bedtime. Eleuthero is not recommended for people with uncontrolled high blood pressure. There are no known reasons to avoid eleuthero during pregnancy and breast-feeding. However, pregnant or breast-feeding women should be aware that some products may be adulterated with herbs that should not be taken in pregnancy, such as Asian ginseng. Only eleuthero from a trusted source should be used.
In one case report, a person taking eleuthero with digoxin developed dangerously high serum digoxin levels.16 Although a clear relationship could not be established, it is wise for someone taking digoxin to seek the advise of a doctor before taking eleuthero.

Green Tea For Weight Loss - How Well Does It Work?
31.December, 2008
I'm interested in facts and websites.
Actually, it works quite well.
Here are some points why green tea for weight loss might not be such a bad idea:
1. Green tea extracts are regularly used in diet pills because they help burn fat. They also give you a natural energy boost
2. The Wu Yi tea may be the Chinese secret to weight loss, but so is green tea. Simply exchanging your morning coffee for tea can lower those excess pounds by up to 10 lbs (in 6 weeks)
3. An American journal found that drinking green tea increases metabolism and suppresses appetite. So less hunger cravings and an easier path to that lean figure
4. The Japanese are fans of green tea as it is rich in antioxidants, fights wrinkles and has ample vitamins of the C and K variety
5. Tea baths were very popular in ancient China. They increased blood circulation and opened up those pores

What's the most healthy green tea to buy in stores?
31.December, 2008
What's the most nutritional and best anti oxidant green tea in the regular supermarket that isn't too expensive? I'm new to tea.
Loose leaves are way better than tea bags. Organic is good, but not as necessary with tea, or so I am told.
When you make green tea, don't use boiling water, The water should be hot but not boiling. Steep the tea for 1 minute or less - the Japanese steep it for 30 seconds.

Why does my shampoo have more fruit juice in it than my fruit juice?
29.December, 2008
I'm serious, my shampoo has apple extract, pear juice, kiwi, and grape skins. It even has green tea in it.
My Snapple drink has <2% fruit juice, mostly corn syrup and some grape juice in it.
Because you're drinking the wrong kind of fruit juice. Read the labels before you buy if you are that interested in the percentage of juice a beverage has.

Mega T-Green Tea pills?
29.December, 2008
ave you taken them to lose weight, just lik 5-10 pounds. do they work?
-i eat really healthy and i exercise daily
you can't relay on that pills alone if you want to lose weight. They will be of great help if you somehow change your eating habits ( make healthier choices ) and regular exercise. I took the same green tea extract capsule and i lost 15 lbs in 2.5months. I combined it with healthy eating ( veggies, fruits ) and 1hr walk/jog everyday. don't forget to drink as much water as you can. good luck!

How Do You Achieve a Green Tea Flavor?
29.December, 2008
I’m wanting to make green tea chocolates. Is there any way to get the green tea flavor without spending a fortune buying a package/tin of matcha? I know Starbucks adds Matcha to their Vivanno for a small price. Does anyone that works/worked at Starbucks know if they would sell me a few tsps of matcha??
You need matcha powder for sure. I’d just buy a tin and make yourself matcha drinks in the mornings with the leftover.

How good is Green Tea?
29.December, 2008
Can you loose weight from it? Like if you drink Diet Lipton Green Tea with citrus? Is it good for you, and how much should you drink to looose weight?
i like it but it took a little bit to get used to it and now i drink it all the time
green tea is full of antioxidants which are really good for your body. it helps to cleanse your body and have it get rid of harmful chemicals. green tea that is brewed from the bag is best for you to get the most anti-oxidant benefit as lipton green tea and sobe green tea has added sugar and other preservatives.
as far as weight loss, tea acts as a diuretic, which means it helps you get rid of water. the more tea you drink, the more you will be urinating, so you may feel as if you are losing weight when in fact you are just losing water weight. any weight loss should be done by eating a healthy, lowered calorie diet in conjunction with regular exercise, rather than solely drinking any sort of tea.

has anybody heard about the green tea pills giving you problems?
29.December, 2008
i would to take the green tea fat burner pills last year for almost 9 months..i guess you can say i got addicted to them..and i recently stopped taking them 3 months ago..the thing is lately i been having anixety problems…do you think it could be from the pill??has anybody heard about that??maybe cause the pill has so much caffine in it???its a bad feeling to i feel at times i cant breathe
Going off caffeine suddenly will mess with you. I tried quitting coffee once and a month later I was still not functioning properly. Real short attention span (I've always had that anyway, but it was worse) and no energy at all. Finally, I said "Hey I'm having my coffee" and started again. I think the problem was that I quit cold turkey. I think I could taper off of it and get it done, but I really haven't pursued it. I'm not all that interested, cause I really like coffee.
But if you're trying to break a dependence on the caffeine (and that sounds like what your problem is), then maybe a little bit of coffee or tea (I don't recommend Coke or Mt. Dew cause of all the HFCS) will help. Not a lot, just enough to take the edge off. And then just taper it off from there.

i want to start my green tea diet but i would need help on how the diet is suppose to be done. is it just drinking green tea and water? or can you eat regular meals with it? please let me know the steps to this plan.
thanks in advance
Yeah, get the free order from http://myultragreentea.com like I did and try it out. It’s a mix that you mix with water and then drink a couple times a day! I have combined that with a bit of exercise and a reasonably healthy diet and it’s worked great for me!
