how to make/brew green tea?

05.December, 2008

i bought green tea from grocery store but the pack doesnt have any directions for making tea. Can anyone tell me how to make green tea?

*The indian way to make is …..Boil a cup of water and then add a teaspoon of the green tea leaves and let boil for just half a minute or so !!!!
Put off the flame and let it ''brew'' for 5 - 6 mins…….. then strain it in a cup and drink hot !!!!
U may drink it cold too …… but then strain it first before cooling …. o/wise it will become too bitter & strong !!!

I LOVE green tea! I drink it everyday! Not sure whether you have the bags or the actual leaves but, in any case, simply pour boiling hot water over the tea bag or tea leaves in a teapot and let it sit for 2 to 4 minutes (the longer you leave it, the stronger/more bitter the taste, just depends on your preference). If it is loose tea leaves that you have, measure a 1 tsp (with just a basic teaspoon) for each serving.

Then either remove the tea bag (you may squeeze it gently before removing so you don't waste all the yummy flavor) OR pour your teapot and use a small strainer to remove your loose tea leaves. Pour your tea into your favorite teacup or mug and enjoy!

I like to enjoy my nice hot cup of green tea with a just a little Agave Nectar (a natural, healthy sweetener). It is a liquid that is 4 times sweeter than plain old white sugar and it tastes so delicious and really brings out the flavors in green tea.

    ;) Hope that helps!

the best and traditional way is to soak it in the hot water after you rinse the porcelain wear or a cattle. Depending on the time it will get stronger, then you can refill it with water for more. Chinese prefer to use really small purple clay cattles that help green tea to open up its storage of flavors and vitamins.

green tea leaves do not require boiling water to steep. Since green leaves are less processed than black tea leaves, the water only has to be 185F, not 212F (boiling).

What you should do is boil water, let the water cool for a few minutes, then add pour the water into the cup with the tea bag. (I'm assuming this is a tea bag and not loose leaf tea).

The tea bag should steep for 2-3 minutes or else it will turn bitter. Some green teas only require 1-2 minutes. You really have to just experiment because all tea bags are different. enjoy!
