Which is better when TTC and pregnant? Decaf green tea, decaf black tea or decaf coffee?
20.January, 2009
There is so much conflicting information out there about this and I'm just trying to figure out what's best. I like a warm cup of coffee or tea in the morning with my breakfast and later in the day after dinner. I'm talking about two cups a day max. I know there are links to green tea and birth defects if consumed in large doses. However, if I were to drink no more than two cups per day what would be the healthiest choice while TTC and pregnant?
The only thing that I have heard is to generally stay away from herbal anything. So if green tea is herbal tea, you may want to stick to the black tea.

Does decaf green tea have the same beneficial properties as regular green tea, and…?
14.January, 2009
… is it true that using boiling water on green tea destroys the good properties (I heard you should use hot water but never boiling from the kettle)
Same properties and no, boiling water doesn't destroy the good stuff.
You might want to try red bush tea - naturally caffeine free and very very good for you.

Highly Sensitive To Green Tea?
06.January, 2009
I drank a half a bottle of Green tea before bed and had so muchhhhhhh TROUBLEEEE SLEEPING lol. Ive found out Im highly sensitive to tea especially since I drink mostly water and natural punches.
Is there any type of DECAF tea that works just as well without the unwanted high?
Thanks:)
First of all why on earth would you drink green tea before going to bed? It makes absolutely no difference if you are sensitive to tea or caffeine or not. You should not consume caffeine within 4 hours of going to bed or you are going to have sleeping problems.
I have heard people being sensitive to caffeine before but never tea. If anything they would be allergic to tea but not sensitive to it. If in fact you are sensitive to caffeine then you still have to be careful with decaf. Depending on how sensitive you are decaf can still set you off as there is still some caffeine in it.
Do you have the same problem with any other drink with caffeine in it? Soda, coffee, energy drinks, hot chocolate? Green tea has 30 mg of caffeine which is less than any of the others. Except Pepsi which has only 25mg per serving
If you want to drink a tea before going to bed try chamomile tea. It has no caffeine in it and helps you to sleep. Otherwise what exactly do you mean by work as well? Exactly were you hoping it would work on since you drink it before going to bed?

green tea to lose weight?
04.January, 2009
I just started drinking green tea. do I need the regular or decaf tea to lose weight? or does it matter?
yes, it helps, but only a little. green tea contains antioxidants which help increase your metabolism, but only if you drink it regularly. of course tea is only an improvement to your diet and you can't expect to lose weight only by drinking it. as for aspertame or other sweetners, you only find them in sweet ice tea, which is a kind of soda, not real tea. real hot tea you can make yourself at home with just tea leaves and water. good luck

On A Raw Food Detox Fast, Are you allowed to drink green tea?
02.January, 2009
Are you allowed to drink green tea on a RAW FOOD DETOX FAST? Decaf ofcourse. Also, I assume you can have detox tea? How long do you usually do the fast for, to get good and clean of toxins. This isnt for weight loss, its for health purposes only.
Umm, you do know that Detox doesn't work right? Why? Simply, because a BALANCED diet is more effective in health. Starving is completely useless, because you're missing out on vital nutrition. Leaving out protein, or essential amino acids will hinder you health rather than benefit it.

what has the benefits of green tea, but tastes better?
27.December, 2008
i've heard/read that green tea is good for you, and i've also heard that black tea has just as many beneficial components.
the black tea i have is decaf… so which is better?
All tea is pretty good for you. Each has its own benefits. Decaf tea no matter what I believe is better, because caffeine can be very bad for you.
-Green tea and black tea have a lot of antioxidants and are just plain better for you then many of the drinks out there.
- White tea is also good for you.
- For even more health benefits and no caffeine content try Rooibos tea. Its red tea, it tastes great, theres not caffeine, and its very good for you.
-Also try herb tea! Chamomile is an antispasmotic. So that helps with muscle tension, and still tastes pretty good.
Try www.CUSTOMLEAF.com. On that website you can create your own tea blend. So you can find tea that is good for you and also tastes good! Go figure!
I created Rooibos tea with blueberry and vanilla!!

Green Tea. I prefer Decaf though…..Does the Decaf process strip away the beneficial components?
25.December, 2008
The brand I buy says "naturally decaffeinated using only water". Could someone explain this process and explain why it's good?bad? Does it strip away the anti-oxidants?
I don't think it effects the tea at all. You should try Adagio Teas on the internet, they have different flavors of green tea and it is all great. You can order a sample for $2 and try it out before you buy a lot. It is loose tea, not tea bags. I don't like green teas, I get the black teas and they are wonderful. I bought a Personalitea Pot from there and I love it. Only $9 dollars and it makes 3 cups of tea. They also have herb teas and the Roobios which are great red teas naturally decaffienated. Try it out at www.Adagio.com.

Green tea is supposed to be really good for you. Does it matter if its regular or decaf?
23.December, 2008
It depends on the process they use to remove the caffeine. The ingredient in tea that is good for you are called "polyphenols." If the company used ethyl acetate to remove the caffeine, then most of the polyphenols will be gone and the tea will no longer have health benefits. If the company used carbon dioxide (the process is commonly called "effervescence"), then most of the polyphenols will remain.
The label may be helpful enough to tell you which process they used. If not, it may tell you the polyphenol count, which should be 80 to 100 milligrams for one cup of tea.
If the label doesn't give you any of this information, you will have to call the company to find out.

does anyone find that green tea makes you have less energy and makes you drag ? I think it's when the caffeine?
21.December, 2008
wears off I get low energy. I love green tea and would drinking decaf green tea make a difference? I am very sensitive to caffeine it seems.any ideas?
Green tea has a minimum amount of caffeine that won't make you tired or drag compare to regular coffee.
Do you know that consume 500 to 600 milligrams of caffeine a day, or about four to seven cups of coffee, can cause restlessness, anxiety, headaches and other problems.
