Argue if you want, but more and more health experts are realizing that water, although good for you does nothing other than hydrate your body. Drinking decaf green tea with no sugar instead of water hydrates your body and helps deal with free radicals. This will help keep your cells alive longer. Your cells can only reproduce around 50 times because each time they reproduce the telomares connected to each cell get shorter. If you aren't giving yourself powerful doses of an antioxidant daily you are in fact speeding up the aging proccess and opening the door to cancer cells. ( which coincidentally are not restricted to the same short life span of normal cells. )
Excellent idea….I have replaced much of my water intake with tea….green tea all natural and I feel great…..

Is it possible to gain weight from drinking green tea?
15.December, 2008
I’ve been drinking Lipton Natural Decaf Green Tea on and off for a year. I first started drinking the caffienated one and I did lose a lot of water weight from that, but my mom said to drink decaf because its better.
Like i said, ive been going on and off with the decaff kind, but it feels like im gaining weight? Is that possible?
I started eating healthier too by cutting down on rice, eating more fruits and vegetables, and drinking mostly soy milk, water, and of course green tea.
I do not drink it with sugar, milk, or honey btw. Just plain water with it
If you aren’t sweetening the tea, it has negligible calories and won’t make you gain weight from fat directly. However … it’s possible that drinking the tea makes you want to eat something with it, and you’re eating more because of that? If thats not the case, I think it could be the switch to decaf if you’ve only gained a little. Caffeine is a diuretic, it makes you go to the bathroom a lot. So, maybe without the caffeine, you’re holding onto a little more water than usual. Like I said though, I don’t think that would make a big difference, 1 to 2 lbs at most probably.

green tea?
13.December, 2008
if i drink a cup of decaf green tea daily, will it be good for my health?
is there anything bad about it?
Green tea is very high in antioxidants, and therefore is very good for your health. The only bad thing about it is that it can possibly interact with some medications (like birth control) if you drink a LOT of it, but those risks are slim from my understanding.

Green tea: Does Decaf process strip away beneficial components?
11.December, 2008
The brand I buy says "naturally decaffeinated using only water". Could someone explain this process and explain why it's good?bad? Does it strip away the anti-oxidants?
If you stop and think about it…they used water to remove the caffeine. So that kind of tells me that the tea is pre-brewed. In my opinion that would dilute the antioxidants in the tea. These are just my opinions though. Loose tea is the best. If you can't do caffeine there are several different ways to get antioxidants. Grape, Cranberry, and Pomegranate juice have many health benefits. Try to get the kinds that aren't concentrated or fortified. Grape seed extract, and and Grapefruit seed extract also have antioxidant powers. Juicers are always a good thing. You just have to be careful to keep it, and the produce clean. Also make sure to refrigerate the juice. Since it's not pasteurized. Supposedly pasteurized juice kills not only germs, but the healthy enzymes. Good luck, and hope that I was of some help. ~Rosanne~

I like chai tea and want to drink this tea along with green tea . But I want to know how significant the amount of caffeine is in the tea. Will it make a difference if I am choosing to to dring essentially all decaf products
Chai tea is made with black tea leaves. Sweetner, a variety of spices and milk are added to the tea to give it's unique flavor.
Black tea actually has the most amount of caffeine of all the
teas. Green tea also contains caffeine in a lessor amount.
Therefore either tea beverage would not be a good choice for anyone completely avoiding caffeine.
The amounts of caffeine in tea are as follows:
Black tea 25 to 80 mg
Green tea 8 to 36 mg

can a dog die from eating a green decaf peppermint tea bag?
03.December, 2008
Our dog ate a green decaf peppermint tea bag on Friday. She was immediately taken to the vet who pumped it out of her with some pink. 2 hours later we noticed a little green in her pupils of her eye and she was lethargic-didn't want to lie down. We thought it was from the stress of the pumping. On Sat morn no better-make a long story short-first it was diagnosed as pancreatitis -then bleeding inside-where from-no one knew. Her wbc was so low-they couldn't believe she was alive. Iv all weekend with protein since that was also low. Her temp dropped to 96.7 but was normal last night. By the way her organs were all functioning very well-no problem there. Plasma was administed to her yesterday-she looked much better last night and the vet called this a.m.-she passed on from bleeding. What do you think?
no metal on bag
she was only 2 years old-I have such guilt-thinking the bag fell on the floor that I probably left-how does one deal with the death-the passing of an animal that you keep looking for and is with God? Why GOd why?
just for tony's insensitive answer this is real-no fooling and how heartless can people be?
Wow- I've never heard of anything like that happening where there wasn't poison involved. I've seen it many times when a dog ingests mice or rat bait, or something like that.
That sounds a little out there, but I've also never had to deal with a dog eating peppermint tea. Doesn't sound like it would hurt them though. Could it have ingested something else or maybe gotten twisted inside the intestines somehow?
I am SO sorry for your loss. I really hope you can get some closure and peace of mind.
