green tea help lose weight?

does green tea really help you lose weight?
and is it okay to mix stevia in it?
how many cups of green tea should i drink a day to see results?
will it help me burn more calories?

Yes you can lose weight drinking green tea. It should not be the only thing you do for losing weight. There are several types of green tea, primarily Sencha and Gyokuro. The difference between the two lies in the way they are grown. Sencha is a higher grade tea grown in full sun; Gyokuro is grown in full shade. You want to do 6 cups a day. I don't know about stevia though. This article was very useful to me when deciding to use green tea as part of my diet. I hope you find it useful as well.

If you drink green tea once everyday, can that actually help you lose weight?

About Green Tea and Weight Loss - The No-Nonsense Truth
Consider the following - One pound of fat (2.2 kg) is equivalent to approximately 3500 calories. Whether using green tea for weight loss or any other method, in order to lose one pound of fat over the period of a week, a person must maintain a calorie deficit of 3500 below their normal “set point”, that “set point” being the amount of calories consumed in one’s diet where a person neither loses nor gains fat. This calorie deficit can come through the modification of diet, through exercise, or a through a combination of both. In the case of a pound per week weight loss, that works out to a needed calorie deficit of 500 calories per day.

Research by Japanese and other researchers(1) suggest that if the average person were to drink five cups of green tea a day, they would burn an extra 70 to 80 extra calories through an effect known as thermogenesis - the process of heat production in organisms. While much of the thermogenesis effect in green tea is derived from caffeine, studies also suggest(2) that thermogenesis in green tea occurs to some degree beyond its caffeine content from epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG.)

Regardless, 70-80 calories per day does not quite come close to the 500 calorie deficit needed per day to lose a pound a week, and for sure it’s nowhere close to the calorie deficit needed to lose “inches per week” from one’s waistline as some green tea web sites would have consumers believe. According to the research, if a person were to change nothing outside of adding five cups of green tea to their diet per day, then over the course of 43 days one could expect to lose 1 pound. Over the period of one year, one could expect a loss of about 8 pounds. Yes, there is some correlation between green tea and weight loss, unfortunately it’s not on the level many would have you believe.

Clearly, drinking green tea alone is not going to be satisfactory for significant weight loss. Still, green tea can still be quite useful as a weight loss aid. The extra 80 calories per day can be just what a person needs to tip the scale from a calorie surplus to a calorie deficit, especially when following a balanced nutrition and exercise regime.

Alright, first of all, I understand it takes much more than drinking green tea to lose weight, but I was wondering what brand of tea you used.

It doesn't really matter at all. I drink green tea all of the time (not to control my weight, obviously), but just because I enjoy it. I personally just grab the oriental-decorated box that you can find in any grocery store!

and how much a day should you drink? I'm not fat, I'm just trying to get rid of my belly.

And PLEASE don't tell me about diet and exercise. I know about all that, I just want answers about GREEN TEA.

The effect of green tea on weight loss is "apparently due to increased fat oxidation and thermogenesis". Thermogenisis refers to energy used in heat production that is not related to resting metabolism or physical activity. (our bodies use energy even when we're doing nothing. It's less than energy used in other activities, of course)."

Basically green tea extract increases metabolism.

by drinking green tea,, will it help me lose weight.. if so which one.

Green Tea is a product that has been growing in popularity for a couple years now. Typical of ancient herbs from the Chinese culture, Green Tea is loaded with healthy nutrients like antioxidants that will give you energy, assist with weight loss, and fight a number of diseases.

Now we have an even better product called Enhanced Green Tea. Just 1 serving of Enhanced Green Tea contains as much nutrients as 1 gallon of brewed green tea.

Studies suggest that green tea extract may boost metabolism and help burn fat. One study confirmed that the combination of green tea and caffeine improved weight loss and maintenance in overweight and moderately obese individuals. Some researchers speculate that substances in green tea known as polyphenols, specifically the catechins, are responsible for the herb’s fat-burning effect.

The benefits of green tea are numerous. In fact, if you were to go to PubMed.com and do a search for green tea, you’d find over 2,000 studies performed on green tea and its components (eg, EGCG, theanine, vitamin E, etc…).

Possible benefits are being investigated for weight loss, cancer prevention, antioxidant activity, cognitive enhancement, general good health and well being… and the list goes on and on.

You can order a free trial of Enhanced Green Tea from the source link below. So far all I’ve heard is that the Enhanced Green Tea supplement is helping people to feel great. It provides more energy and antioxidants than you would normally get from drinking cups of tea all day.

(BY THE WAY WE ARE CHINESE AND WE DRINK ALOT OF TEA) Ok, so at dinner, my sister asked my mom if green tea would lose weight cuz her ONLY drinks green tea and she is skinny. my mom said it might but she was not sure. Then i was wondering if it does help u lose weight. can someone tell me if that is true and how it does help u lose weight? i am just wondering. im not trying to lose weight if u ppl are asking. and please no bad answers. if u cant think of anything good to say to me then just dont answer at all. BEST ANSWER GET 10 POINTS!!
u guys do hve alot of good answers. and yea mr. taco i know. im just saying best answer gets 10 points so more people can give more better answers.

Unless you dump a bunch of sugar in it, green tea has no calories. So yes, it can help you lose weight… but only if you are replacing drinks with a lot of calories with the tea. If you start drinking green tea, but replace the calories with something else, it won't help. Drinking green tea in itself is not going to make you lose weight, but anytime you can replace something with a lot of calories (like soda, for example) with something that has none, it is a step in the right direction. Ultimately, the best way to lose weight is to eat right and get a lot of exericise. Drinking green tea regularly can be a part of this mix.

And you don't have to write "best answer gets 10 points." We all know how this thing works. ;-)

Good luck!

Can green tea you lose weight?

05.November, 2008

How? Nothing complex to understand. Simple answer please.

Green tea can help boost your metabolism, but it only helps you burn around 100 calories extra a day. If you are planning on drinking green tea for weight loss, that is fine but in order to increase your weight loss, I would eat a healthy diet, exercise, and drink a lot of water (the amount of water you should be drinking when you are trying to lose your weight is half of your weight…for example say you weigh 150lbs, you should drink 75ounces of water a day while you are trying to lose weight).

I hope this helps you, good luck.

I asked a question and someone said that the green tea pills help you lose weight. Is this true?? Has anyone ever tried them? Do you gain the weight back quickly?
I've heard green tea is good, but I hate tea….so the pills might be better :/
Is it ok for people under 18 to use them?? What will happen if you're under?

Hey I don’t really know for sure about the pills, but I thought I would answer because I ordered a free thing of green tea from http://myultragreentea.com a while ago and have been drinking it religiously. I am pretty sure that the effects from the pills would be the same, so I have been feeling increased energy and my body just feels really good. I also combined this with exercise and stuff which is what you should do! Good luck with the pills!
