Green tea for weight loss?
25.December, 2008
I've seen adds for Ultra Green Tea Lean online for months, so I'm thinking of trying it. However, I'm leary of buying it online, and scared that it has extra additives that aren't totally healthy. My question is- would it be just as affective to drink regular green tea? I want to lose weight, but I don't care about whether or not it gives you energy, etc. Can you recommend any green tea products that I can buy in stores? Or should I drink normal green tea? Or is Ultra… the only way to go?
Thanks for your help!

Weight Loss Tablets - Insider Tips
12.November, 2008
One common mistake most dieters make is involves intake. It is not that they are taking in too much. In this case they are not ingesting enough. Water is crucial to any diet plan but it seems to be nearly impossible to get the suggested 64-ounces of water each day. Somehow, though dieters dont seem to have a problem taking in flavored drinks by the gallon. They also seem to have a problem taking their weightloss tablets as well.
Anyone who is on the go (which is everyone in todays society) knows how difficult it is to remember everything we have to do in the morning. This includes taking our vitamins and our weightloss tablets. This forgetfulness can be a real detriment to any diet plan that requires a lot of will power.
There are those that argue that there is no such thing as will power. We have the ability to turn the cheesecake away with a smile for only so long. Sooner or later the temptation gets the better of us especially after spending weeks and weeks adhering to a diet. We often feel denied and tend to give in to tempting treats unless we use weightloss tablets to control the urge. The weightloss tablets are will power for many dieters.
Also, the water issue preys on dieters who are simply sick of drinking the bland beverage that gives our mouths little or no feedback. Many of us want a little spice or a little flavor especially if we feel denied in our everyday diets. The quest for taste can be a powerful motivator and it can be the beginning of a binge.
The makers of Dexatrim have come up with a valuable solution to the water intake problem and the problem of forgetting our very important weightloss tablets. Dexatrim Max2O tablets dissolve in a glass of water. The product is ephedra free and it contains green tea. The weightloss tablets also boast great flavor as well which is a real motivator for the water-hating community of dieters.
The benefit of the product is that it is very easy to use and it can be taken anywhere there is water. You simply drop the weightloss tablets into water and watch the bubbles. They work a lot like Alka Seltzer but with great taste. They also suppress the appetite and help you feel satisfied. These weightloss tablets are the wave of the dieting future.
Weight Loss Through Simple Home Remedies
06.November, 2008
Being overweight is quite certainly one of the greatest health risk people over the world are facing today. Medically, this condition is known as obesity. Obese people are very vulnerable to a large number of lethal diseases, such as atherosclerosis, high blood pressure, heart attacks and other cardiovascular problems, diabetes, paralysis and gangrene. Hence, doctors and medical experts all over the world stress on maintaining a healthy weight to keep most diseases at bay.
In Ayurveda, there are several dietary and herbal techniques by which people can reduce weight. Just like it does in other treatments, Ayurveda does not believe in any kind of debilitating treatment methods; instead its treatments are centered on making the person lead a healthier lifestyle. The following article is about some of the best remedies and methods that people can do within their homes to achieve a healthier profile.
Treatment with Simple Home Remedies
Remedy # 1
This one is not actually a remedy, but it is the most important thing you must do in order to keep your weight in a normal level. And that is, stick to a healthy diet. The following are the dietary guidelines you must follow in order to keep your waistline healthy: -
1 Do not overindulge in eating any one type of food. Keep your diet balanced.
2 Keep the intake of sugars and fats to a minimum. The fats to be avoided are the saturated fats and the trans-fatty acids.
3 Too much carbohydrates build weight. Hence, the intake of rice and potatoes must be reduced. Wheat, barley and maize are ideal substitutes for rice in people who has weight problems.
4 You must have at least one bitter vegetable per day. This helps in the proper metabolism of fats and do not allow them to accumulate in the body.
5 Never eat to full capacity.
6 Consume a lot of fluids in the day. This helps to eliminate the undigested foods effectively.
7 Exercise is extremely important. It is necessary to indulge in mild physical activity after each meal even if you cannot make time to go to a gym.
Remedy # 2
Have a totally salt-free diet once a week. This helps reduce weight. Also skip a meal once in a month.
Remedy # 3
Prepare chutney of mint leaves. This must be taken with every single meal. It helps in the proper breaking down of the fats. Also begin your day with a cup of mint tea.
Remedy # 4
Vitamin C is very good for people who are looking to reduce their weight. Since amalaki (Emblica officinalis, Indian Gooseberry) is the best source of vitamin C in the world, it is good to eat two three fruits of the amalaki each day. Also have a glass of any one citrus fruit â orange, lemon, etc. â each day. Green leafy vegetables also have good vitamin C content. They can be consumed raw in the form of salads.
Remedy # 5
Honey is very good for mobilizing the fats in the body. Take a spoonful of honey half an hour after every meal. A good remedy is to mix a teaspoonful of honey and lemon juice and have it twice a day. Alternatively, you can take a bowl of warm water, put a teaspoonful each of honey and lemon juice and drink it in the morning on an empty stomach. This is a very good remedy to dissolve the excess fats.
Remedy # 6
The Indian plum, i.e. jambula, is renowned for its weight controlling properties. Jambula dissolves the excess fats and gets them properly utilized in the body. Take four leaves of the jambula plant and soak them in a glass of water overnight. In the morning, discard the leaves and drink the water on an empty stomach. If you do this everyday, then you will find a positive reduction in your weight in three weeks or a month.
Treatment with Special Ayurvedic Methods
Ayurvedic experts would first try to ascertain what dosha type the patient is, because the treatment of obesity depends on that. Generally, Vashti Karma is prescribed, a therapy that is quite like giving an enema. This flushes the toxins from the body. Then other methods are employed to reduce the excess fats.
There are various herbs and preparations that are prescribed in order to treat obese people. Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) and the Triphala choorna are definitely prescribed. It must be noted that the Triphala contains amalaki, bibhitaki and haritaki; all of which are extremely potent in dissolving the excess fats. Shilajit is also prescribed quite often, as it removes the unwanted constituents from the digestive system and provides the body with a good mineral balance that it requires. Most importantly, the significance of a healthy diet and an active lifestyle is stressed upon the patient.
does green tea enhance weight loss?
03.November, 2008
other than dieting and exercising (which im currently doing) is there anything else that will help enhance results in a healthy way?
Yes, green tea does speed up your metabolism. Here are some more weight loss tip's I have picked up over the years:
- Exercise 6 to 7 days a week.
- And try to break your workout into two different sessions, this gives your metabolism a jolt.
- Drink 10 to 12 cups of water a day. And try to drink ice cold water, it burns more calories.
- Take enough vitamins, especially ones that promote weight loss (such as 1800 mg. of Fish Oil, Vitamin B Complex, Co-enzyme Q-10, ect. Do your research).
- Drink green tea or take green tea pills ( it's been shown to speed up your metabolism).
- For your metabolism's sake, eat within 1 hour of waking up and don't eat 3 hours before you go to bed.
- Try a vegan or vegetarian diet (it worked for me :D).
- Or, if giving up meat just isn't your thing, just count calories.
- Try to avoid white, bleached, or enriched flour.
- Stay away from high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated oils.
- Eat every 2 to 4 hours to keep your metabolism going.
- Eat 5 to 6 small meals a day.
- Try to get 6 to 8 hours of sleep. When your body is deprived of sleep your appiteite increases by 15%.
- Sugar and artificial sweeteners are the devil. If you have a sweet tooth, grab some fruit.
- Avoid all junk food, fast food, and fried food.
- Try only drinking water, tea, and black coffee. There are so many hidden calories in drinks.
- Eat whole grain foods and healthy fats (like olives, avacados, nuts, ect) and stay away from refined or "bad" carbs.
- Remember to read the labels. They hide so much junk in "healthy diet" foods now a days. My rule of thumb is, if I can't pronounce it, I won't put it in my body. Because you are what you eat.
And just remember that you can do this. It's not impossible. You just have to stick to it and the weight will just fall off. Good luck with losing weight. Hope I've helped.

What is a good green tea that helps for weight loss?
01.November, 2008
I'm looking for a good green tea that i can find easy in a local store like: Wal-mart, Target, CVS ect…….
if anyone can help me by letting me know about a simple tea that comes like in tea bags that would be great!
You want 100% pure green tea with nothing added. Most green teas that come from major manufacturers like Lipton, Snapple, or Arizona are LOADED with high-fructose corn syrup, which is the father of all dietary evil (you can gain 15 pounds in a year just by drinking one Snapple Green Tea a day). If you have a Trader Joe's near you, they sell 100% pure green tea in 32 oz. bottles. If you can't find plain old green tea, you may have to buy Lipton or Celestial Seasonings green tea bags and make your own.

Should You Consume Caffeine To Lose Weight?
31.October, 2008
People seeking to lose weight are typically anxious to hear about any trick to make weight loss easier. One way to help speed weight loss is to find ways to speed up the metabolism, so that more calories are burned in a day.
Research has shown that caffeine is effective at speeding up the metabolism, so that you burn more calories. According to the Mayo Clinic, caffeine stimulates many body functions, including the heart rate, central nervous system function and metabolism.
In addition, caffeine may decrease the appetite short term. So, adding caffeine may be an effective way to jump start weight loss. There are some things to consider, however:
You may see no effect if you’re already a caffeine consumer. If caffeine is already a part of your daily diet, you would likely need very high doses of caffeine to increase your metabolism above the level at which it already functions. However, those who don’t regularly consume caffeine may see some benefit.
You must be careful where the caffeine comes from. If you start getting your caffeine from sugary sodas, you’ll likely gain weight rather than lose it. However, if you get your caffeine from coffee, tea and sodas without sugar, you may see some results.
You must consider your other health issues. If you already suffer from an irregular heart rate or high blood pressure, your doctor may have warned you to stay away from caffeine. If this is the case, caffeine may not be safe for you. Be sure to talk to your doctor before adding caffeine.
What if I’m Caffeine Sensitive?
Many people stay away from caffeine because they find that too much caffeine causes sleeplessness or jitters. For these people, supplementing with caffeine for weight loss might seem unreasonable. However, there’s one form of caffeine that seems to be tolerated well by those who are normally caffeine sensitive.
Green Tea May Be the Answer
Green tea may well be the best way to get your caffeine for weight loss. Though green tea does contain caffeine, it is in smaller amounts than many other beverages. In addition, the caffeine in green tea seems to be better tolerated by the caffeine sensitive than other caffeinated beverages. This is thought to be because of the anti-oxidants in green tea.
These anti-oxidants, in addition to making the caffeine less of a problem, also offer a myriad of health benefits. Green tea’s anti-oxidants have been shown to lower cholesterol and prevent heart disease and some forms of cancer. So, even if you don’t lose weight from drinking green tea, it’s a healthy habit to add to your diet.
But, the best news is that in addition to being healthy and well tolerated by the caffeine sensitive, it may just be that green tea is the best way to get your caffeine for weight loss. This is because studies have shown that green tea is more effective in promoting weight loss than other caffeinated beverages. The combination of caffeine and green tea’s anti-oxidants appears to be more effective in promoting weight loss than caffeine alone.
One important study on this subject was reported by the Obesity Research Group. In this study, ninety overweight men and women were studied. First, the group was put on a low calorie diet for four weeks. The subjects were divided between low caffeine consumers and high caffeine consumers. At the end of the four week diet period, the subjects were placed on a weight maintenance program. During this weight maintenance period, subjects either received a green tea/caffeine supplement or a placebo. Within the groups, both high caffeine consumers and low caffeine consumers were given the green tea/caffeine supplement. The weight maintenance period lasted for 3 months.
At the end of the study, the results were as follows:
Caffeine consumers overall seemed to have higher satiety levels and lower leptin levels, which helped speed weight loss.
During the weight loss period, caffeine consumers lost more weight than non-caffeine consumers.
During the weight maintenance period, the low caffeine consumers who received the green tea/caffeine supplement kept off more weight than the low caffeine consumers who received the placebo. In fact, many of them continued to lose weight.
During the weight maintenance period, the high caffeine consumers who received the green tea/caffeine supplement did not report a significantly higher success rate in keeping the weight off than those high caffeine consumers receiving the placebo.
While more research is needed to truly determine how green tea and caffeine can help with weight loss and maintenance, it does appear that consuming green tea and other forms of caffeine can help you lose weight. In particular, caffeine and green tea may be especially effective for those who don’t consume a great deal of caffeine on a regular basis. And, since green tea is a form of caffeine that is well tolerated by most caffeine sensitive people, green tea may be the best way to use caffeine as a weight loss aid.
You have nothing to lose by adding green tea to your diet. It’s healthy, refreshing and has no side effects. And even those who are sensitive to other forms of caffeine can usually drink green tea without experiencing unpleasant side effects. So, see if green tea can help you in your efforts to lose weight!
