How good is Green Tea?
29.December, 2008
Can you loose weight from it? Like if you drink Diet Lipton Green Tea with citrus? Is it good for you, and how much should you drink to looose weight?
i like it but it took a little bit to get used to it and now i drink it all the time
green tea is full of antioxidants which are really good for your body. it helps to cleanse your body and have it get rid of harmful chemicals. green tea that is brewed from the bag is best for you to get the most anti-oxidant benefit as lipton green tea and sobe green tea has added sugar and other preservatives.
as far as weight loss, tea acts as a diuretic, which means it helps you get rid of water. the more tea you drink, the more you will be urinating, so you may feel as if you are losing weight when in fact you are just losing water weight. any weight loss should be done by eating a healthy, lowered calorie diet in conjunction with regular exercise, rather than solely drinking any sort of tea.

Green tea from a tea bag or bottled green tea?
27.December, 2008
I heard the drinking green tea was really good for you. I love Lipton's Diet Green Tea. It contains NO calories, NO sugar, No nothing. Do you think that drinking the bottled green tea is just as good for you as drinking the actual green tea from a bag?
I'd use the tea bags. The bottled tea is more processed so probably isn't as healthy.

i keep hearing all the benefits green tea can have on your body. does it have to be the green tea that you brew yourself from a tea bag or can i buy bottled green tea (such as diet lipton green tea) and still gain the same benefits.
I brew my own and for health reasons not taste reasons I've learned to like it unsweet. brewing tea is easy, I bought a $7 tea pot(just like the song) and brew it up, takes a few minutes. Plus if you sing the "I'm a little tea pot" song and do the motions you burn calories while brewing tea, genius huh?

Is it me or does Liptons's Diet Green Tea taste like malt liquer?
23.December, 2008
I prefer the regular green tea by Lipton but I am diabetic and do not need all the carbs and extra sugar.
maybe the sugar substitute in the diet tea is composed of sugar alcohols, giving it the strange aftertaste.

Green tea antioxidants?
21.December, 2008
I'm drinking this Diet Lipton Green Tea with Citrus (it's in a bottle). It says that there are 72mg of flavonoid antioxidants per serving (8 fl oz). Does this mean that it has 72mg of EGCG? Or are there other antioxidants that it has and EGCG is only a small portion of those?
epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is a powerful anti-oxidant in green tea. I think that the flavonoid antioxidants they mention are the same as the EGCG in the tea.
Green Tea Flavonoids
Green tea and, to a lesser extent, black tea are rich sources of still another group of flavonoids called catechins. These catehins - including the closely related epigallocatechin-3 gallate (EGCG), epigallocatechin (EGC), and epicatechin-3 gallate (ECG) - form about 30 percent of the dry weight of tea leaves.

Anything with green tea in it makes me nauseous, how about you?
19.December, 2008
I was taking a vitamin with green tea(ECCG) and practically having to throw up after, drank a diet Lipton green tea with citrus and was nauseous and light headed, and have had hot tea that was green, same reaction. I wondered if this is common and why?
when i first drank pure fermented green tea - I had upset stomach (it was like whirling round and round) for three days. After that, I did not drink pure green tea anymore but with sugar. My mom said my body was undergoing some cleansing. i don't know if that was true, though.

Is it bad for you to drink too much green tea?
17.December, 2008
I drink like 2 lipton diet green tea with citrus every day…is that potetially bad for me in any way? Is it good for me?
Hello Zaneeta S
Nice avatar picture.
I hope this answers your question!
Green tea, like most popular brands of coffee, does contain caffeine and so care must be taken not to overdo the use.
In this case green tea side effects can be like any other caffeine-induced side-effects including, but not limited to, headaches, shaking, sweating, hyperactivity, irratability and problems sleeping. High levels of caffeine have also been associated with skin rashes from time to time, through these tend to go as quickly as they arrived once the caffeine has left the body.
Because of these caffeine levels, doctors generally recommend against giving green tea to children of any age. The same, of course, goes for those breastfeeding.
It is important at this point to say that levels of green tea will have to be very high indeed for the caffeine-related effects to be felt. Japanese scientists claim you can safely drink up to 10 cups a day without experiencing any side effects from green tea so this is unlikely to effect most of us.
Some people may also experience an upset stomach after drinking green tea though this is rare. A scientific study in 1984 found that "tea is a potent stimulant of gastric acid, and this can be reduced by adding milk and sugar" so drinking it as you would your normal tea should help alleviate such problems. Furthermore, if you are taking green tea as extract (such as for weight loss) the manufacturer has likely already tested this element.
Lastly, tannin-containing drinks like green tea (or your more usual black tea for that matter) can, in some cases, lead to iron deficiency and so those with anemia and similar circulatory problems may be best to opt against consuming green tea.
As mentioned earlier all of these side effects are highly unlikely and are far more likely when green tea is consumed in high concentrations but if you are in any doubt, consult your doctor before taking any green tea-containing product. (For more info see source)

green tea while on a diet?
15.December, 2008
I'm drinking Lipton green tea with a little bit of sugar as well as water during my diet. Is lipton green tea good though? I'd read here that green tea helps with weight loss but did they drink it sugar free? How should I drink the green tea for the maximum health benefits? thanks!
Green tea has beneficial qualities, antioxidants, and there is some word that it helps with weight loss but that's debatable.
Try using fake sugar to sweeten it if you are worried about the sugar. Bottom line, it's not bad for you, and will help you get your recommended daily fluid intake…but I wouldn't count on it for significant weight loss results. A healthy eating plan and plenty of exercise accomplishes that.

Thank you for opening =]
Welll I drink 2-3 bottles of Diet Lipton Green Tea with Citrus daily, I really like the taste and recently I was told that green tea was actually very very healthy. But I don’t think I’m drinking the right one, this one isen’t really from the bags and it’s not Japanese. Will a Japanese one be a better approach?
What kind of green tea is best/healthier, name it, and tell me if what im drinking is effective to my health, because I dont think it is?
Thank you
Diet tea has an artificial chemical sugar called Aspartame, diet teas are actually worse for you than regular tea. You are better off with non diet drinks.
Natural green tea is all Natural and better for you.
Green tea has the most antioxidants, choose the flavor you like the best.
