So… about matcha (green tea powder)?

I wanna make green tea cheesecake for Christmas, but I have no idea how long I've had that matcha bag in the fridge. How can you tell if it's bad?
Cakeyness? Turning brown? Smells?
Mine is none of the above… are there other signs of good matcha gone bad?
If it is over a few years old, I wouldn't take the chance. It's in a dry powder form so it's probably still good, and it will be in a cake so it will be under heat. It's probably good, but do you really want to risk it.

Can I get it at any store (like stater bro’s or trader joes?) or do i have to order it?
I want to make some matcha green tea cupcakes.
it’s not at trader joe’s. I’ve checked their tea selection and almost every product in that store since I love Trader Joe’s. And I also love tea and have only seen matcha green tea powder in a Japanese grocery store. That’s the ONLY place I’ve seen it other than online.

Hi. i’m not from aus, but in the US it’s very hard to find. I’ve only seen in in a specialty japanese grocery store and it was pretty expensive. online is probably your best bet.

Is Matcha this high maintenance?

I just bought some matcha and the guy who sold it to me said in order for me to get the health benefits from it I HAVE to let it steep in 80 degree water for 5-6min. Also he said if I just pour boiling water in and make tea like normal I would be burning of ALL the health benefits and would be drinking green water. Even before putting it in ice cream and other deserts he said to let it steep in 75-80 degree water first..
Is this true? If so what are some easy ways to prepare?
I have 30g tin powder stuff.
Anybody?? I dont wanna waste this stuff.
Actually it is just like any other tea. If you let it steep longer, more of the extractives come out into the water. I suggest you get yourself a "tea ball" and just make it in the cup like normal. I cannot imagine putting in ice cream or other deserts.

two 250ml-350ml smoothies (using berries mostly and low fat dairy, and adding Fibre powder)
1cup of sliced cucumber + 1 cup steamed broccoli
1 teaspoon of matcha and lots of green tea and water
250ml of v8 fusion
and 1/2 cup plain shrimp with carrots and more cucumbers
this is split up through out the day, thinking of makeing my breakfast oatmeal instead of one of the smoothies
This is not enough food or calories for a full day. You need more protein and dairy.

Ok so i reallyyyyyyy want to make green tea frappuccino and i dont know where to but the green tea matcha or mocha or powder or waht ever it is!!!! my local stores are walmart, target, safeway, town and country markets, and other main places like that. i really wanna know and just give me one place i can find it and right away you will be the best answer! please help

I am trying to find a place to find some matcha green tea. I have tried sprouts and trader joe's, but they didn't have any. I also tried World Market who had it but it was mixed teas and in teabags … and I don't want it in teabags. Just straight powder stuff in a tin. Anyone know?
There is a very big, popular store in Chandler at Dobson/Warner called Lee Lee Asian Supermarket. It's an amazing place. They are opening a new location in Peoria at 75th Avenue/Cactus. According to the article (posted link below) they will have a "soft opening" on April 24th if all their inspections go off without a hitch. If you don't want to wait, take a drive to Chandler. It will be worth it, in my opinion. Or, take a drive to the Chinese Cultural Center on 44th Street just off the 202. There's an Asian grocery store there as well, though, in my opinion, it's more Chinese focused than Lee Lee's and a bit smaller.

I am interested in buying Matcha or Sencha teas (powdered green teas). Where is the best place to purchase them. Here, in the Seattle area, they are expensive, please give me some suggestions. Domo!

Me? This isn't a fruit, but I would say make it a green tea Gummi, and call it "matcha". Matcha is the powdered green tea in Japanese. You may have had it, in green tea ice cream, or in cold green tea drinks. Not the regular green tea as in hot tea, but much more delicious and sweet and a bit creamy in flavor. YUM!

the next flavor I would make would be pomegranate, or white peach, or asian pear, or pluot

Green Tea ShortBread Cookies
1 lb unsalted butter (room temperature)
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons green tea powder (matcha)
4 cups all-purpose flour
Makes 9 dozen small cookies
1 hour 2 minutes 30 mins prep
1. Cream butter in the bowl of an electric standing mixer using the paddle attachment; add confectioner's sugar and salt.
2. Sift together the tea and flour and add to the butter mixture; mix until just incorporated.
3. Roll the dough out to about 1/3-inch thick between 2 pieces of plastic wrap; transfer to a baking sheet and chill until firm, at least 30 minutes.
4. Heat oven to 300 degrees.
well, any ideas how the end result would be if i just crumble the ingrendients like whenyou wanna make pie crust and the end result if i follow d recipe?

how is "shortbread "texture like?
It will change the texture of the final product. It would probably come out more flaky and crumbly, more "pie-crust-like" than "short-bread-like". The dough will be harder to cut after rolling out. It should taste fine, though.
