what does the matcha green tea smoothie from jamba juice taste like?
25.September, 2008
does it taste like green tea ice cream?
please no silly answers like "green tea"….can you compare it to something? it seems like a lot of green teas taste different
I found this for you:
Don't let the peculiar color (alien green!) fool you; this slightly lumpy yet insanely delicious treat from our friends at Jamba Juice tastes like a creamy green tea milkshake. The Matcha Green Tea Mist is an enlightened spin on their higher-calorie Green Tea Blast, but there's not a chance you'll miss the extra calories and fat grams. Made with sorbet, lower-calorie dairy base, ice, soymilk, and matcha green tea, it is the perfect velvety balance of icy and creamy. The best-tasting of all of Jamba Juice's Enlightened Smoothies, "The Mist" (our little pet name for it) tastes like a decadent dessert. And with only 190 calories and no fat, feel free to indulge on a regular basis. Wheeeee!
HG HEADS UP! This item has been removed from the regular menu and is now a "special order" drink. Just ask for it and they'll make it…
I don't know if that helps or not, but at least I didn't say "green tea!"

How do you make Matcha Green Tea smoothie?
21.September, 2008
The kind like Jamba Juice sells. Recipe will be wonderful. Thanks in advance!
There's gotta be former jamba employee somewhere around to help.
This culinary tea like is also used as dye or natural flavor with food such as the dairy ice cream with the green tea and a variety of Japanese pastry makings "wagashi". The "Matcha" is an ingredient running in the Japanese sugar refineries. Its use in modern drinks was spread in the coffees in the north of America where, as with Japan, it can be mixed with the milkshake, in frozen drinks, and sweetened or alcoholized drinks.
Biological tea, it is very popular in Japan where it is famous to have effective therapeutic properties: rich person in tannins and vitamin C, the green tea contains a strong antioxydant capacity and certain properties to fight against the cardiovascular diseases, cancers and the neuro-degenerative diseases.
The ingredients for a smoothie are:
-powdered Matcha (one tbsp)
-linseed gelatin (2 tbsp)
-soy milk (8 ounces)
-powdered spearmint (2 leafs)
-stevia (to taste, as a sweetener)
Beat until smooth (aerated) and refrigerate for one hour.
ET VOILA !

What's a good brand of Matcha (green tea powder) for making green tea chocolate truffles?
19.September, 2008
I have been looking at a lot of recipes but they don't specify which brand they use. Matcha tea is not sold in the local stores here. I can only think of ebay to buy it off. If anyone has made these, please let me know which brand you bought and from which store.
There are 2 types of matcha- koicha and usucha.
The pure dried leaves (tencha) are then stone ground into a super fine powder that is the consistency of talc. Matcha is uniquely Japanese.
High grade gyokuro from Uji. Netto Gyokuro has a wonderful naturally sweet aroma and a crisp flourish.
They are available in health food store, or Japanese store.
