Why can't I lose weight?
20.January, 2009
I weigh 170 lbs and want to get down to at least 150. I am 25 yrs old, have had three kids, the last one 2 years ago. I walk 2 miles every morning, do Tae-Bo three/four times a week and change that up by switching nights/mornings also alternating between the bootcamp, ultimate abs, cardio, etc.
I eat really well, I never go over 1200 calories, I don't think I could if I tried. I eat fresh fruits and veggies every day, hardly ever red meat, mostly chicken, turkey, and pork. I usually eat eggs for breakfast. I drink a couple glasses of grapefruit juice a day too or eat a half of g.f. I cannot be retaining water because I seriously drink like 2 gallons of water a day, sometimes a diet snapple and I pee like once every half hour. I take green tea pills, but that is mostly for energy because I have 3 little kids.
I have only lose 4 lbs. in two months! It is really depressing, don't know what to do next
That probably sounds like a lot of water, but I don't go overboard to drink it on purpose, if I didn't I'd be dying of thirst all day long. I have always been drinking a lot like this, since I was a kid, and no I do not have diabetes. My two year old daughter is the same way. She will empty an entire sippy cup in less than five minutes.
Get Lean with the Magnetic Diet Seven Step Plan
Combined with strength conditioning, energization exercises, pranayama life force control and meditation the magnetic diet seven step plan will when followed guarantee that you achieve a low level of body fat in a predetermined period of time. Ultimate leanness is defined as single digit body fat percentages for men and low teen body fat percentages for women. This is the level of body fat necessary if you want to be able to actually see the definition of your abdominal muscles. The magnet diet in combination with the right amount of physical activity will create the necessary calorie deficit to achieve ultimate leanness. The time it takes for you to achieve that will of course depend on how much fat you have to lose.
For example, if you currently weigh 200 pounds and are at 23% body fat and your goal is to be at 9% body fat you have about 25 pounds of fat to loose. To loose 25 pounds of fat while maintaining or even gaining muscle should take you approximately 6 to 7 months. You can lose 25 pounds in a much quicker time frame, but will it be 25 pounds of fat? No it will not, remember when you lose weight too quickly much of the weight lost can end up being muscle. And as we learned earlier if you lose muscle you will create the condition for a boomerang weight gain of fat down the road. Now 6 to 7 months may sound like a long time but in reality its not. In our society we want everything quick and easy, but the truth is that nothing worth having comes quick or easy. 6 to 7 months of your life will pass by no matter what you do, you cannot stop time. But by following the magnetic diet seven step success plan the difference will be that 6 to 7 months from the time you start you will have achieved your goal, you will have attained your desired body fat percentage, you will look great and most important of all you will have achieved a very high level of health and vitality. Remember the goal is to lose fat and maintain or even gain muscle so losing the fat slowly is the way. Here is the plan:
Step 1.
Determine your current body fat percentage
Get your body fat measured by a personal trainer or health professional, or purchase Tanita body composition monitor or other similar device.
Step 2.
Decide on a goal body fat percentage:
What’s it going to be 15%, 10%, 5%? They are all achievable, you just have to decide. Once you have decided then calculate the amount of fat that you will have to lose. Take you current body fat percentage minus the goal body fat percentage and convert that to a decimal value add 1 and divide your current weight by that amount. The difference between the result and your current weight is the number of pounds of fat you need to lose. For example a 200 pound person at a 23% body fat who wants to achieve a 9% body fat would do the following:
23 percent minus 9 percent = 14 percent
14 percent = .14
.14 +1 = 1.14
200 pounds divided by 1.14 = 175 pounds
200 – 175 = 25 pounds of fat to lose
Step 3.
Determine your current resting metabolic rate
Determine your current resting metabolic rate using the formulas on page 112.
Step 4.
Determine your maximum daily caloric intake
Remember you want to create a calorie per day deficit so maximum daily caloric intake is equal to your resting metabolic rate plus any additional physical activity as measured in calories minus 500 calories.
Use this as a tool: http://www.magnetic-diet.com/calc/daily_calorie_calculator.htm
Step 5.
Adjust the diet using portion sizes and snacks
Adjust the portion sizes slightly in the main meals or add or subtract snack portions to get to the maximum daily caloric intake.
Step 6
Determine the length of time to achieve your goal
The amount of fat you need to lose divided by a pound a week = the number of weeks it will take to achieve your goal.
Step 7
Follow the Magnetic Diet Seven Day Success Plan Not only will it result in your achieving your goal but it will ensure life long health and vitality. Adjust your caloric intake and activity level as your weight drops. Remember as your body weight drops so do your caloric needs. You must reduce your caloric intake or you will reach a plateau.

I want to lose 35 lbs. by November- Can someone tell me if this is a balanced diet/ excersize plan?
16.January, 2009
I am 25 yrs old, 175 lbs., 5'7.
Breakfast: omelet w/ham, onion, mozz. cheese
sometimes on a whole wheat muffin or bagel
sometimes a bowl of yogurt Cheerios instead
Lunch: turkey sandwich, or a salad w/chicken, lowfat dressing
Dinner: grilled chicken breast, steamed broccoli, sometimes a lean pocket if I am in a hurry
In between I snack on watermelon, pineapple, celery, and cucumbers, but I do have a weakness for low-fat pretzel rods…
I also walk two miles every morning and do Tae-Bo 4-5 times a week not to mention chasing after 3 small kids. On the weekends, I don't excersize because I work.
I do not drink soda EVER, water and Crystal Light, once in awhile a diet snapple.
Oh yeah, I also take the "green tea pills" but this is more for energy than dieting, I have been taking them for almost five years.
All this and I have only lost like 2 lbs. in a month! I am very faithful and hardly cheat. What am I doing wrong?
Your plan sounds good to me. Are you gaining muscle? Pineapple and Watermelon taste yummy (my favorites, too), but I wouldn't snack on them all the time (as listed above?). Along with bananas, they are the highest sugar fruits. Maybe try carrots with hummus or grapes. Walking is good (any movement is good), but it isn't my first choice for losing weight. I think sometimes our bodies get used to a particular exercise - maybe switch it up a bit? The only reason I personally am not crazy about walking is that unless you are doing power walking w/weights, does your heart rate come up enough to be considered cardio and to lose weight? One of my friends had really good look on www.ediets.com. They personalize a menu plan for you, have nutritionists on staff for questions, conduct online meetings on different topics, have weight ins, etc. All in a really positive and pro-active approach. You can choose from 11 or so different eating plans. She really liked the accountability and convenience. And as far as the Green Tea pills go, maybe try getting energy from your food. More protein such as chicken, fish, and even red meat (once in awhile)? Best of luck!

Kurt Busch - Nascar's Nerd ?
08.January, 2009
Is it just me, or does Kurt Busch look more like somebody that would work on computers and drink diet Snapple or Green Tea rather than driving a race car and drinking beer?
Just to everyone….I NEVER SAID KURT WAS A BAD DRIVER…I just said he he does not fit the type is all.
I never meant to offend anyone.
Yeah he's a nerd, with pinned back ears and his very proper grammar. Yeah I think Diet Snapple needs to be his sponsor along with odoreaters for your shoes. They should give him a pocket on his firesuit so he can use a pocket protecter.

Why does my shampoo have more fruit juice in it than my fruit juice?
29.December, 2008
I'm serious, my shampoo has apple extract, pear juice, kiwi, and grape skins. It even has green tea in it.
My Snapple drink has <2% fruit juice, mostly corn syrup and some grape juice in it.
Because you're drinking the wrong kind of fruit juice. Read the labels before you buy if you are that interested in the percentage of juice a beverage has.

Going back to school and maintaining my diet!?
27.December, 2008
So here's the deal. I've lost some weight, and still trying to loose a few. I go back to school August 14th, and we ALL know that school food really can't be all that good for you!
I really don't want to get fat, or gain everything back!
And i don't want to pack my own lunch everyday, because that will get soo expensive, and really inconvienent.
I'm going to eat breakfast at home, but what is a good breakfast that will keep me full until lunch time. And even then will keep me from pigging out at lunch!
What are some healthier school lunch choices? Like healthy things I can eat there. And what are good snacks I can bring in my backpack to munch on if I get hungry?
And are the diet teas like lipton diet green tea, diet snapple peach tea good for me? I buy the cases from sam's club and plan on bringing them with me to school.
[ highschool lunch by the way, so there's a lot to choose from! ]
thanks guys!
oh by the way, i'm going to be on cross country.
and the days i don't practice with cross country, i will be going to the gym after school (3:30)
so there's my exercise by the way [:
in case you were wondering
I am going into 9th grade and am doing cross country too and I totally understand how hard it can be to stay full and still eat healthy.
For breakfast:
Try Nestle's Carnation Instant Breakfast Chocolate Milk Mix. Its packed with protein and vitamins so it keeps you full and still tastes normal. Also have a granola bar. I especially like General Mill's Fiber One bars which taste really good and are only 150 calories with 9 grams of protein. This breakfast keeps me full and concentrated until lunch.
If you do need a snack anytime during the day, bring a small container of Ritz crackers ,strawberries and pineapple, or Goldfish.
For lunch:
I have a turkey sandwich with lettuce and cheese, a water, and one of those 100 Calorie Packs snacks. The 100 Calorie Pack snacks are great because they come in so many different popular varieties and most of them taste exactly like the real things.
Also, if you practice cross country in the afternoons (like I do), stash another one of the 100 Calorie Packs in your sports bag to quickly gulp down before practice to keep you going.
Drinking lots of water during the day helps to kepp you full and focused as well as it prepares your body to stay hydrated during your cross country workout too!
Hope this helps!

if you drink too much snapple, does it give you kidney stones?
21.December, 2008
and does the same go for arizona green tea?
Not sure if it causes it but I heard that lemons or lemon juice prevents them.

is it bad to drink alotta tea?
19.December, 2008
i make green tea like almost everyday and i love drinking snapple
but a bit way too much
teas are great to drink b/c they have antioxidants but not the kind of tea that is loaded with sugar, just drink plain tea with nothing added to it and it is very good 4 u.
