What is our world coming to?

22.October, 2008

Last night I ended up in the ER (allergic reaction to SOBE Green Tea). I ended up being right in the middle of some pretty big action. Apparently there were four shootings, and one of them was a 4 year old child. I had the opportunity to talk to the girlfriend of one of the victims shot in the chest and leg. I was so shocked I said "What happened? Why did he get shot?" She said that a vehicle pulled up and just started shooting. She doesn't even know why, and she said neither did her boyfriend, who was in critical condition at that time. The place was swarming with police and they kept questioning her, while she was crying. A 4 year old girl had the misfortune of getting caught up in the whole thing, and was shot in the head. What would convince somebody it was ok to open fire on a group of people? Especially where children are? What kind of person can just drive up and start shooting? I can't understand this. I pray and grieve for her parents. What is your take?

My take? Evil. That's it, there is no other explanation than evil. Anyone who thinks is okay to hurt a child is evil. Anyone who thinks its okay to kill for kicks is evil. And no, I don't go for the "devil made me do it", we make our own decisions, so someone got a gun, and used it, free will. Hope they catch the monster, and hope he/she gets put in general population in prison, won't last long there after shooting a 4-year old.

Allergies later in life?

17.October, 2008

I am 23 right now. Growing up I was never allergic to anything. I had no reason to fear anything because nothing ever affected me. Lately I've developed a couple of allergies, and I'm wondering if there is some type of adult onset of allergies or something? Last month I had a brain MRI, and the moment a drop of the contrast touched my arm I started to scream from the pain (my arm felt like it was being held in a fire). I didn't even know it had touched me until they said they weren't doing anything (Brain MRI's are done with your head in a sort of "cage" laying on a table). Then last night I was having a Sobe Green Tea for refreshment for, um, let's just say I was married Sunday, ok? An hour later my throat started to close and it felt like I was being choked. My husband rushed me to Froedtert and they said I had an allergic reaction to the Green Tea (that was the only new thing I'd had). What can be causing this development in allergies?

all the new vaccines and new anti-germ war (germ-ex) going on is what doctors claim is the reason for the raise in food allergies.

read up on 'rise in food allergies'

We need to be exposed to germs to build up our immune defenses.
Maybe your house is too clean and you wash your hands too much.
Seriously. Im not kidding.

I bought some SoBe Lean Diet green tea and drank 20 FL OZ and I have had to pee a lot more than I usually do. Is this good or bad?

Bad. Now you have kidney disease.

What does Puckulent mean?

09.October, 2008

I recently got a Sobe Green Tea and the cap said "Puckulent" so I was wondering if they just make up random words and put them on the caps of their drinks??
I also got one that said "Scorch Muffin", and "Who? Eats Maghee?

i saw some like that, i had one that said, "love bus for life" and "toenails smell like milkduds" the milkdud one kinda freaked me out so i threw the drink away. They owe me $1.49 now

I have a hard time getting plain water down so I usually drink the flavored, sugar free, carbonated waters, Sobe lean diet green tea or a flavored hot tea. The nutrient content says 0 on almost everything. Occasionally coffee if I'm super tired. Are these equal to plain water?

From an "eight glasses of water a day" standpoint, they are an equivalent. Except for the coffee, because it contains enough caffeine to be dehydrating.

From a health perspective they are not equivalent, because they are flavoured with unnatural chemicals in order to keep the calorie count low. If your body spends time and energy digesting strange chemicals, it will have a harder time digesting the normal food you eat, and this can lead to weight gain. Also, artificial sweeteners like aspartame are proven to cause cellulite.

Looking at the nutritional label of Arizona Green Tea (in can)
http://www.arizonabev.com/csr/prodtypeitem.asp?item=7439&cat=1
and that of Sobe Green Tea 3G (in bottle)
http://www.sobebev.com/product_info/exotic_green.shtml

Sobe tea is more of a Green Tea energy drink with a blend of Ginseng, Ginkgo, Guarana and Echinacea - so it will give you a different buzz.

Coca-Cola has a new product out call Enviga and has a green tea flavor in cans and claims to help you "burn calories". Enviga is a low-calorie drink and uses Aspartame as a sweetener. http://www.bevnet.com/reviews/enviga/facts.asp

Despite of the prices you mentioned, these different tea drinks will probably yield different results.
