Are all these supplements safe to take together?
19.November, 2008
i take all these per day
2 x Odourless Garlic Tablets
1 x High Strength Cod Liver Oil
1 x Fluoxetine (anti depressant) 20mg
1 x Korean Ginseng
1 x Ginklo Biloba
2 x Slow Release Vitamin C
1 x green tea
2 x CLA
3 x glucosamine
2 x aloe vera
2 x artichoke
2 x royal jelly
1 x pro biotic digestion
i only take 1000mg of cod liver oil
The supplements would all be fine together… but Fluoxetine isn't a supplement, it's a generic prescription form of Prozac.
If you wanted to find out if any of those would interact with the drug, your best (and safest) bet would be to ask a pharmacist if there are any interactions listed between the drugs and supplements you're taking. Doctors and pharmacists both have access to a database of drug and supplement interactions and they can tell you quickly if you can safely take them together or not…. anyone here will just have a best guess from searching on the internet (which isn't always accurate, as we all know)
Also, the "high dose of Cod Liver Oil" could be a concern, depending on how much you take. I would be careful about getting more than 5-6,000 IU of Vitamin A or more than 1,000 IU of Vitamin D daily from it. Good luck!
[edit]: Oh, yeah, 1,000 mg of Cod Liver Oil is a very good amount… all the supplements looks good, then, but I'd still check with the pharmacist about the Fluoxetine.

I wish I could say they were mostly anything more than pointless. With the amount you spend on this rubbish each week you could cheer yourself up with a holiday in the sun!

They look ok, apart maybe from the Prozac, BUT, I found that after taking a couple of dozen supplement pills every day for a few years I got duodenal ulcers and had to stop.
