To speed up weight loss should i stay away from Splenda?
17.October, 2008
I only have a cup of coffee one or two times a week now but i usually use Splenda instead of pure sugar. Also my diet green tea uses Splenda. Is Splenda just as bad for me as pure sugar? I hear so many pro's and con's about this product.
Is there another substitue that i can use?
Using Splenda is fine and there is nothing in Splenda that will harm you. There is no calories in Splenda so it will not cause you to gain any weight.

Using Splenda over any other sweetner (sugar substitute) will not speed up or slow down the rate of your weight loss. What you need to do is speed up your metabolism. You can do this by eating smaller, more frequent portions (usually 6-8 times/day) and increase the amount of exercise. A high protien diet (40-60 grams of protien/day) will also increase your metabolism and allow you to build more muscle and burn more fat at the same time. A high protien diet will also satisfy your hunger for longer periods of time (over eating vegetables or other lo calorie fillers). Also, stick to water as much as possible for a beverage and do not drink anything for at least 45 minutes after eating. Think about it….You just ate and your stomach is working on breaking down the food for fuel - If you drink anything you are basically flushing the food out of you stomach instead of giving your stomach a chance to do its work.
