I am not a huge water person, I would much rather the diet lipton green tea. Anyone heard any negative effects this may have on me or my baby?
The bottle does not say whether or not it contains caffiene.
artificial sweeteners (even the beloved Splenda… *shiver*) is no good for you and your baby… it would be much better to try and down the water… or add a splash of fresh fruit juice to it to give you some variety.
if you want green tea, find the good stuff… the stuff you make yourself at home- and decaffeinating tea is relatively easy… steep it for about 45 seconds, pour out that water, then steep again for a few minutes… it will be about 99% decaf at that point… i am a tea FREAK and have friends who own and operate tea shops- this is where i got this info.

My doctor told me not to drink alot of things that have "fake" sugar in them like sucralose. Alot of diet drinks and things like powerade, crystal light have sucralose in them. He said its ok to have a few but to not drink them every day. Do you like just regular green tea? If you do I would stick with that.

The concern here is for the caffeine and the artificial sweetener. Water will be a much better choice. You can try adding some lemon or lime juice to the water, so it has little 'zing' and some extra vitamin C.

I heard feeding your baby diet chemicals might make them sick when they grow up. We don't even know the long term effects of these chemicals on us, much less our children.

you should avoid caffeine while pregnant, if my understanding is correct. can cause low birth weight and premature birth i think. not really fair to get your kid hooked on drugs so early.
also, i recommend against diet sugar in general, although the verdict is still out.
it's only nine months… consider it a motivator for trying a true health-food diet. maybe you'll love the difference it makes!

I'm not familiar with the diet Lipton green tea. Does it contain caffeine? If so then I wouldn't recommend it. If it has artificial sweeteners then that is a no-no as well. You would be better off to drink plain water with some fresh lemon or lime squeezed into it. If you amend your original post and tell us what the ingredients are I could be of more help to you.
Birth blessings to you!
PS. Did you know that pregnant woman needs to drink up to a gallon of pure, natural water per day???
Addition:
PS Amazing isn't it that one can receive a thumbs down for a post like mine? Go figure.

Don't drink green tea in particular. Other tea's are fine…. In one of my books it says that green tea takes away certain things from your body. Here is a website.

Also, WATER IS ALWAYS BEST!!

It depends on how much caffeine is in the tea.
Here is some info I found on the subject:
Do I have to give up caffeine now that I'm pregnant?
Not necessarily. You can still enjoy your favorite caffeinated drinks as long as you don't overdo it. After years of controversy over the issue, most researchers now believe that, although caffeine does cross the placenta, moderate amounts (less than 300 milligrams a day) won't harm your baby.
That's about what you may get from just one strongly brewed 8-ounce cup of coffee. Keep in mind that the amount of caffeine in a cup of coffee varies widely depending on how strong it is, and that your serving size depends on how big your mug is — a typical mug holds about 10 ounces.
Many pregnant women limit their intake even further or cut out caffeine completely. If that seems wise to you, you won't get any arguments from your midwife or doctor.
So just check and see how much the tea contains to know wether it is safe to drink or not.
Good Luck!

I'd try to stay away from anything labeled "diet" and anything with loads of caffeine. Green tea doesn't have mondulous amounts of caffeine, but it has more than black tea, and while pregnant, you're supposed to keep your caffeine intake at a minimum (though I'd recommend as close to none as possible- better for baby AND you).
But if you must have your green tea, don't drink the diet stuff.

Artificial sweeteners are never good and caffeine will help you have a cranky baby. Have you tried making your own herbal sun tea? All you need is a big glass jar, water and some herbal tea. There are yummy herbal tea flavours available. Only make a day or two worth at a time to keep it fresh.

Water.
Most diet drinks are considered safe by the FDA in moderation, but some people don't want to drink the chemicals when they are pregnant. Caffeine can also be a concern - but is OK in moderation (and it will not give you a cranky baby).
You are much better off with water - a diet Lipton Green Tea once in a while won't do you any harm, but grab for water first when you're thirsty…even a non-diet Lipton Green Tea is probably a better choice.
For water - squeeze in some lemon or lime - or my favourite, cut some slices of lemon, lime and orange, throw them into the bottom of a jug - fill with ice water, and you've got yummy water to sip on instead of just plain stuff all the time - a great alternative for the taste buds.
You could also make your own iced tea at home with green tea - throw a few 3-5 tea bags into a jug, pour over with a few cups of boiling water. Allow to steep for 5-10 min, depending how strong you like it, then fish out the tea bags.
Fill the container the rest of the way with cold water and some ice…refrigerate. If you want some extra taste, throw in a few leaves of fresh spearmint, peppermint or ginger when you're brewing it, or just a mint or ginger tea bag.
This way you can sweeten it to taste with sugar or even Splenda as you go - and you control the ingredients. You can have decaf, regular…whatever. You can make a lot of varieties…the sugar/Splenda dissolves more easily if you mix it in while the tea is still warm.
See the links below for FDA approved sweeteners in pregnancy…some people choose not to have them anyway, but in moderation, you're likely OK. The second link is in regard to caffeine intake in pregnancy.
If in doubt, ask your doc.

My doctor adviced me not to drink green tea during my pregnancy, I heard it could cause miscarriages.

It has artificial sweeteners so I would think it has the potential to cause harm. Aspartame breaks down into a neurotoxin when exposed to temperatures of more than 80 degrees faranheit and sucralose is chlorinated table sugar in the same family of manmade chemicals as DDT, a banned pesticide.
Try making your own green tea with stevia powder, stevia is a plant whose leaves are 1000 times sweeter than sugar so it doesnot require chemical alterations to be sweet. There is a brand called "Sweet Leaf" in most grocery stores, it is in a green box. It is not cheap but a box of 100 packets lasts me a couple of months.
Moderate caffeine use does not seem to have a negative effect on pregnancy but overuse can cause low birthweight or even miscarriage. Don't consume more than 3 cups of coffee or 6 cups of tea a day.

No "diet" stuff when you are pregnant(your Obgyn should have drilled that into your head)! Why would you need a "diet" green tea anyways(green tea is fat-free)?
The one time we are supposed to be round and happy about being round is when we are pregnant. Worry about weight loss AFTER you are done breast-feeding.
Stick to natural stuff..My Obgyn always said green tea(check the ingredients to make sure its JUST tea) was fine as long as I kept to decaffeinated.

green tea does contain caffeine.
in very high doses, green tea can cause problems.
my main concern, though, is that artificial sweeteners are often neurotoxins, or carcinogenic, or have unknown side effects.
water is MUCH better!!!
