would an iced green tea latte with nonfat milk, no melon syrup be a healthy alternative to the original?

Yes. The melon syrup really adds a lot of calories and the milk is high in fat. Non-fat milk reduces this of course.

I'm not sure of the exact calories in a scoop of matcha but you can always go online to starbucks.com and check out nutritional information. You can even modify your drink with nonfat milk, etc.

It is definitely much healthier. The matcha has some added sugar for taste (its a pre-packaged product) but it's pretty much just powdered green tea.

I don't know how many starbucks employees will actually know this. You may want to try to check out their web site. Food and drink retailers are required to provide nutritional information on their items. I am sure any worth their stock will have it available on line too.

There's the nutritional info. This is including the melon syrup. There's approximately 35 calories per pump of syrup (there are 3 pumps of melon in a tall size, 4 in a grande, and 6 in an iced venti size)

The calories per scoop or drink aren't listen on the bags they come in…you can look up the nutrition info at Starbucks.com and do some math to take out the syrup and milk and get an estimate…

And it would be 'healthier' without the syrup, but I can't imagine it would taste very good…you'd be better off just getting a regualar iced shaken green tea.
