Ways to consume green tea?
30.October, 2008
I've been reading about the health benefits of green tea and I'm trying to consume more of it.
Please share your favorite green tea recipes. If your just going to tell me add lemon or honey, please don’t bother posting. I’m searching for something more creative.
I also have some matcha/green tea powder that I’m not quite sure what to do with.
Try adding lime instead of lemon. Or here are some more ideas:
Green tea pound cake
INGREDIENTS
* 2 large eggs
* 1 cup flour
* 2/3 cup sugar
* 1/2 cup butter
* 1 tbsp maccha
* 1/2 tsp baking powder
DIRECTIONS:
Cream butter in a bowl. Add sugar in the butter and mix well. Gradually add beaten eggs and stir well. Sift flour, baking powder, and green tea powder together and add the flour to the egg mixture. Pour the batter into a buttered loaf pan. Bake in preheated 340 degrees F oven for about 30-40 minutes.
Green tea latte
INGREDIENTS
* 1 cup soy milk (real milk interferes with the polyphenols, blocking the health benefits so real milk should not be drunk together with green tea)
* 1 cup water
* 1 tablespoon maccha
* 2 tablespoons white sugar
DIRECTIONS
1. In a small saucepan, combine the soy milk, water, green tea powder and sugar. Warm over medium heat while whisking until hot and foamy. Pour into mugs and enjoy.
Green tea zest
INGREDIENTS
* 1 fresh pineapple - peeled, cored and cut into chunks
* 2 large green apples, washed and sliced
* 1 1/4 teaspoons chopped fresh ginger
* 1 cup brewed green tea, chilled
* 1 cup mango sorbet or crushed ice
DIRECTIONS
1. Juice the pineapple, apples, and ginger in a juice machine. Mix the juice with the tea, and stir in the mango sorbet.

First off, matcha tastes great in vanilla ice cream! Try it. Makes it go down easier
As for green tea, yes it is very good for you. I prefer Sencha green tea. It has a warm and smooth taste. You should really try http://www.customleaf.com. On this site you get to create your own tea. So, you would pick green tea as your base tea and then add whatever herbs, flowers, fruits, or flavors you like to it.
Suggestion: Green tea (sencha) and add blueberry and vanilla!
